No Compromise

dotOur Thoughts:

Throughout life, we find ourselves in situations where it looks like, in order to close a chapter in our lives, we will have to compromise. This isn't a great feeling, especially, if it's compromising in a position we aren't happy with. I might compromise with someone on which restaurant gets our business. Or, I might compromise with my husband in order to get to go on a vacation - might not be at the time I'd love to go, but, at least, I get to go!

Do we compromise in order to have friends, or to gain access to certain things? Do we compromise to get more in attendance at church? Just what position do we take, when something calls for compromising? Just how far are we willing to go? Some churches are now ordaining self-admitted lesbians and homosexuals as ministers in their churches. To me, this is certainly a compromise, in that scripture tells us this way of life is wrong.

With God, there is no compromise. In His time, it was the law that people committing adultery were stoned to death. But, when asked about the adultress that was caught in the act, he told the people, that whomever is without sin, to cast the first stone. One, by one, they left. So, he asked her where her accusers were, and she said there was none. So, he forgave her and told her to 'go and sin no more.' He didn't condemn her, but showed her the way that she had to walk. He made no compromise. She was to walk 'in the light', giving up the adulterous life she had been leading, and follow after Him.

dotGod's Thoughts:

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, life gets hard and compromises are sometimes inviting. But, help us never to compromise with our spiritual lives or in our obedience to you. We give you honor and glory and praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
