Making Memories
June 1, 2001 Our Thoughts:
How good is your memory? Can you remember back into your childhood when you wanted to do something so bad, but weren't let do it?
Can you remember the first time you stayed over night with a friend? Our memories are made up of all the little things we do all through our lives. Our memory holds the good and the bad,
the happy and the sad, alike.
Just think of the memories that people throughout the Bible made for themselves! There was David, a child, stepping up to slay the big giant! Can't you imagine the adrenaline flowing,
as he drawed back his hand to sling that rock at him? And, what about Jonah and the whale? Jonah had to have such a good memory of his time in the belly of the whale, that he never wanted to go there again!
The scripture says that the 'memory of the just is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot.' [Proverbs 10:17] Each time one hears the gospel preached, it goes down in our memory. The Lord
begins to work with our hearts, convicting us of the sin we've committed, wooing us, wanting us to turn to Him for our salvation. Hopefully, each and every one will come to know the Lord as their personal Savior
before the Lord's return. What a wonderful memory to know that we are saved for all eternity, waiting to reign with the Lord forever.
God's Thoughts:
1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, Thank you for all the memories that I have experienced throughout my life. The greatest memory one can have is to know that we are forgiven for our sins. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
All Scriptures are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
