Putting Up A Baffle

dotOur Thoughts:

Last year, we decided to start feeding the birds. My husband already had a feeder up for the squirrels, but we really didn't have many coming around. He built several new bird feeders, and we bought a couple. The posts were put up and we hung up the bird feeders, ready for the flock of birds to come. And, come they did! There have been lots of birds come to the feeders that I had never seen before. We've become avid bird watchers.

But, along with that flock of birds, a flock of squirrels have come, from ground squirrels to three fox squirrels. The food we put out for them seems not to be enough. They have tried and succeeded in getting into all the bird feeders, regardless of where they were hung or what kind of feed was in them. I was getting disgusted with the whole thing. We were about ready to just quit feeding the animals because of the aggressive behaviour of the squirrels. But, my husband hit on the idea to put up a baffle to deter the squirrels. And it has worked. The squirrels will come again and again, mount the pole under the baffle, and get frustrated. They will continually scratch at the wood under the wire baffle, stretch out their arms to try and reach the edge, in hopes that something will happen and they will once again be able to raid the feeders. But, it's not going to happen. We have completely gotten back the feeders for the birds, and the flock of squirrels we once had has dwindled considerably.

The devil is the same way. He will continue to come back again and again, trying to sway you with anything he can use against you. He will use past sins, your friends, relatives, and even your own spouse or children to upset you. He will not stop in his aggressiveness on you. He is out to get your soul.

Arm yourself with Godly armor. Be ready when he comes to call, for he will come; it's just a matter of 'when'. Be on the watch for his tactics. Let God's Word dwell in your hearts, walk in His Spirit, and don't let the devil have 'a leg to stand on', when he starts his attack.

dotGod's Thoughts:

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, help us to fully clothed with the armor of God, that we might be ready for the attacks of the enemy. Keep us on guard for his crafty ways. We give you praise and honor and glory. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
