Woe Is Me!
Our Thoughts:
How many times have you been chastised, only to feel it was unfair? I can remember being corrected when I was a child, and felt that it wasn't me that should have gotten that,
but perhaps my brother. Children always feel bad, when they get chastened. Sometimes parents do it out of the zeal to be correct, but mostly, they chasten them to teach them manners. But that doesn't really register with a child.
They feel it's unjust punishment. Only later, when they are grown, and perhaps parents in their own right, do they reflect back on the necessity of correcting the children, perhaps in the same way their parents did. I know I've had
my own son to come back and thank us for the way we raised him. That was music to my ears, considering I felt, at times, perhaps we had been too hard on him. Children do realize, as adults, that it was the parents' love for them that caused
them to be heavy on them, at times.
Our heavenly Father will often chasen and rebuke us, too, for our sins. If He didn't love us, He would let us travel on down the road to destruction. But, He loves all His children, and wants them to lead a full, happy, and productive
spiritual life. We may not always see the dangerous path on which we tread, but our Heavenly Father sees it all. And, He tries to keep us from going down that destructive path. We just need to listen for His voice, and take His advice. Then, instead of
'woe is me', we will be singing 'thank you, Lord'!
God's Thoughts:
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing us into reality, and showing us the path to happiness with you. We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
