Overcoming The Pitfalls of Life
Our Thoughts:
The pitfalls of life can get rather hairy at times. There are traps everywhere, and if you aren't very careful, you will fall in one! There is the pitfall of 'credit'. Things look good,
and the credit card companies, or the banks say, 'buy it on credit', 'take our credit card for X amount of interest', 'charge it and pay no interest for six months', and we all buy it! People don't realize that the 'plastic money' is
getting them way in debt, probably more than they would have ever realized. And, had they waited on cash, most of the things they would never have bought. But, here we are, living in a world of 'spend it now' mentality - don't wait on
a way to pay! That will come - sure it will, or will it? I wonder what the statistics are for those in debt over their heads, and they can't get out anyway but bankruptcy, or perhaps suicide. The credit companies never say, "don't spend
it unless you have the cash in the bank". They give you a false sense of security with 'interest is low', 'buy it now and enjoy while you pay'. And, there are many that have succumbed to this.
There are many pitfalls of this life. Another one is our relationship with others. We rush to 'love someone', and then realize it wasn't love after all. But, here they are five years and two kids into a marriage that is
falling apart. Love is more than getting married and having kids. Loving someone means that you have a deep feeling towards him or her that doesn't go away, and they never tire of each other. It's the feeling of wanting to be with them always, regardless
of the cost. It will survive anything that comes it's way, whether it's money problems, health problems, job problems, or any number of things that come our way during our life time.
If each couple would consult God before getting married, I believe there would be less divorces, and less unwanted children in this world. If real love, the Godly kind of love, were more prevelant, satan wouldn't have a
chance in the lives of our families. But, mistakes are made - marriages fall apart. And, there is one who can keep us from making these mistakes, or He is able to show us how to rectify them, or overcome the hardships we have placed ourselves
in, whether it be over extending ourselves credit wise, or stepping into a marriage where there shouldn't have been one. He can teach us to LOVE. Whatever the pitfall is in your life, no matter how big it has become, GOD IS ABLE to help you
overcome.
God's Thoughts:
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we face the pitfalls of life every day. Help us to recognize and avoid them. Teach us to always follow you in all our choices. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
