Do You Have to SEE to BELIEVE?

dotOur Thoughts:

Faith comes only when you start speaking the Word. If the Word isn't within you, then you will experience doubt and unbelief. You often hear people say, "I'll believe it, when I see it". This is usually about something someone has promised to them. Or, perhaps, someone has said they will do certain things, and one just doesn't believe they will do what they promised. So many people aren't as honest as one would like. You need only look at their past history of carrying out their word. I know I have said that many times, in reference to something that has been told to me.

When Lazarus, the beggar, died, he was carried to be comforted, into the 'bosom of Abraham'. The rich man, from whom Lazarus desired only the crumbs from his table, was buried and went to hell. From there, he asked Abraham to send Lazarus to his family, so they would confess their sins and be saved. But Abraham reminded him of his own life, and how they had Moses and the prophets, and they didn't listen. So, if they wouldn't listen to Moses and the prophets, why would they believe a man that arose from the dead? Some people will doubt, regardless of what you say. Even the disciples didn't believe that Jesus was himself, after he arose from the grave.

Scripture says that 'the just will live by faith'. Faith is the 'substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen'. When Jesus came from the grave, even the disciples doubted, so their faith wasn't very great. Thomas, who wasn't with the eleven when Jesus appeared, said that he would 'only believe', when he saw the nails scars in his hands and was able to feel them and His side.

dotGod's Thoughts:

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, help us have faith, regardless of what the outward appearance of things may be. Keep us from doubt and unbelief. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
