The disappearance of Chandra Levy, the Washington intern, over two months ago, has gotten the attention of both the media and the public. The one thing that stands out above all other, except for her disappearance, is the fact that she has been linked with a married congressman. This congressman has been known to have lots of adulterous affairs. Most of the public, with any conscience or decency, will agree this is wrong. Marriage vows should be honored. If you can't be faithful to your spouse, then you don't need to be married.
We live in an era where things that once were thought wrong seem to be thought right. Adulterous relationships are 'whitewashed', treated as something that just happens, and is the business of the participants. The families of the adulteror are never given a thought. Their feelings are probably dismissed, in that they will probably 'never know' about it.
But, often times, these relationships progress to the place where the adulteror leaves their family and marries the person with which they've had the affair.
No matter how society views adultery or any other sin, God's Word still says it's wrong. We can't 'whitewash' it to make it right, nor can we 'look the other way', as if it's not happening. These people that commit adultery need help. They need to seek God and ask Him for deliverance from a sin that is 'divorcing' families, hurting children, and making life miserable for many more. It's time society stood up and expressed a distaste for adultery - if we close our eyes and ears, it won't go away. If we don't 'address it', it will stay. So why not let people know that God doesn't approve of their behavior? It's time to put a stop to the abuse it's causing children and the spouse 'left behind'.

Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, so many families have been broken up because of adultery. Help the couples to become overcomers, when their eyes stray. Teach them to follow you, rather than their fleshly desires. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
