Family Secrets

Our Thoughts:

Sounds enticing, right? Most families do have secrets that they had rather keep to themselves, instead of the public knowing about them. Most of the time, though, someone will 'let the cat out of the bag'. They do it to either attract attention, make someone mad, or they just don't know how to watch their tongue. And secrets? Well, secrets mean nothing to the average outsider, other than a conversation piece.

Lately, there have been several note worthy secrets revealed by the media. One was when a couple had kept their little girl secret for years, locked up in a closet. When the story got out, the little girl was found almost starved to death. We wonder how someone could be so cruel, to keep a little girl 'secret' for all those years, locked away in the darkness. Then, there's the case of the congressman having a love affair with an intern. Had the girl not come up missing on her last day in town, perhaps the affair would never have come to light. And, since this has been brought up, many more of his 'secrets' have been revealed.

Secrets sometimes are beyond explanation and remain a mystery. In Bruce Wilkinson's book, 'SECRETS of THE VINE', he talks about the family of God secrets. They are secrets to the general public because the general public wouldn't understand them. Only the disciples of Christ would benefit from the secrets of the Vine. These are the secrets of the Father to keep his flock alive, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They are for us because we have chosen to follow the Lord all the way.

Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Our Cup:

Heavenly Father, we know you have things prepared for us beyond our imagination. Help us to stay true to you and your Word, and ready to receive whatever you have in store for our lives. We give you honor and praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
