Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageDetours
Our Thoughts:
Imagine being in a place that you don't know very well. You are on a trip to a place you've never been, and on a highway you have
never traveled. All of a sudden, you come up on a detour sign. I've been there, and it's not a great feeling. You wonder if you'll ever find your way back to where you need to be going. It's strange
territory, and you don't have a road map. You just have to trust that the detour will be short, and easy to maneuver.
Perhaps you've taken detours in other areas of your life - friends, jobs, or finding the spouse God has for you. It is kind of like being lost. You know where you'd like to be, and feel
you know where you are going, but not exactly how you will get there. But, spiritually, GOD is the only way. He gives us every opportunity to come to Him, but there are side roads along the way. It is
your choice to make, either follow Him, or take a detour. Perhaps the detour will end up back on the right track, or you may get on the wrong path, and perhaps with the wrong people. We need to try and
avoid any detour that will take us out of the protection of God, and away from the safety He has prepared for His children. When things don't go our way, we don't need to avoid Him, but ask Him for guidance.
It is much easier to trust in God, who knows everything, than to trust in our own abilities.
God's Thoughts:
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, detours are easy to take. Help us to stay on the straight path with you, and never get over into doubt and unbelief. Only you can keep us safe in
this world today. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
