Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageIt's All About Love
September 5, 2001 Our Thoughts:
Everyone craves love, longs to be loved. I doubt that there is one on earth who would shun love.
I am sure there are lots that don't feel loveable. Perhaps they don't know how to love, and therefore, they feel unloveable themselves. Many relationships fail because
one hasn't learned how to love. We must first learn to love ourselves and then learn to let that love flow over into the lives of others.
The Bible says that 'God is love'. It would seem only appropriate that He made us to love and be loved. When we were born, our parents 'fell in love' with
us. Babies somehow just bring out the love within a person. Doesn't matter that they cry lots, mess up their diapers, and have to be fed. It's just the beauty of birth,
the warm and tender feeling of holding a child, that brings out the love in one's heart.
Without love, we are lost. Scripture tells us that, without love, we aren't of God. His Children love as He loves, without expectation or regulation. He IS love.
We need to show love to others as He does to us. The royal law is to love thy neighbor as thyself. If Christians would pass on arguments and revenge, but love the person who has
done harm, then we would bear more fruit. Love is obedience to the whole law of God. So let us learn to love and let ourselves be loved.
God's Thoughts:
Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we want to learn to love as you love, without any baggage. Help us to love others, even though they've done things to
make themselves appear unloveable in our eyes. It's you we want to please, and, in loving others, we do this. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
