When It Rains, It Pours!

Our Thoughts:

This has certainly been one wet summer here in Alabama! In fact, today is the first day the past couple weeks we haven't gotten some rain. Labor Day you would have thought we were in for a monsoon! It was a gully washer, indeed! The ditches were running over, the streets flooding, and it seems there was no end in sight!

And, then there is the rain that God sends to us, through encouragement or inspiration. There's not one of us alive that could strive without getting a little encouragement or inspiration from others at times. Sometimes, we yearn for someone to tell us how good we look, or perhaps what a nice outfit we have on. Or, just tell us they love being around us. It's music to the ears! But, if the enemy can stop the 'music', then he will. It's up to each of us to 'sing to others' praises, words of encouragement, to help build up their faith.

Lately, I've been to the point I figured I was going to have to stop the devotionals. I had come to a point where I just couldn't write, so I've been using reprints at times. Not that reprints aren't okay, but I had enjoyed writing a new one daily, and the weekly one as well. But, when the savor is gone, it's hard to write. I just needed a little encouragement. And, as I said above, when it rains it pours!

Today, I was gone to the local college genealogy library all day. Coming back, I put on the Prayer of Jabez, and let Bruce Wilkinson talk to me. As he prayed that prayer, I prayed along with him. I asked God to bless me with HIS blessings - and one of those blessings I wanted was a reason to keep on going with the website. And, low and behold, He came through. I have had some of the most wonderful notes written to me today, both email and guestbook entries. Not one of those people that wrote knows me, and, to my knowledge, has never written to me. I know at least two of them expressed just finding me. One even mentioned that God had sent her to the website! Now, isn't that wonderful! She needed something, but she didn't realize GOD was using her to give me something. Isn't it wonderful how our GOD works!
