Come As Little Children May 9,
2000 Our Thoughts:
A child knows how to wrap you around their thumb. They know how to appeal to your inner most being, and bring tears to your eyes, or a smile to your lips.
And, they can also make you want to give them a little discipline at times.
We went to our little grandson's soccer game last Saturday. After the game, we returned to our daughter's home, where my husband was helping
her do a few things, including putting up some blinds. He was having to remove the inside windows to do this.
The two little boys, 6 and 4, love ball, any shape, form, or fashion! They constantly have a ball going on the floor, in the air, or anywhere,
in the house, until Mom threatens to puncture it with the first available knife.
Mother and Nanny had gone shopping and Papa was keeping three of her children
and trying to put up blinds. The little boys were playing ball, naturally. They kept throwing or kicking it in the air, and hit a window. He told them that he was going to have to spank them, but he'd be unlike Mom, in that
he would bear their bottoms to do it. Well, Papa didn't mean it - he only talks turkey. :) But the boys don't know this, so they complied - for a little while.Papa took the ball, put it
to the side and told them that they couldn't play anymore -not to touch the ball!! In a few minutes, he saw the older one getting the ball, and the game once again was under way. HE asked them what they thought he needed to do. The older
one (6 yrs) said, "Don't spank us. We'll just roll it on the floor, if that will be okay". My husband said he could hardly keep a straight face, because he knew what was going to happen - the ball would once again get in the air, without those
two boys knowing how it got there, because 'neither one' ever does it.
How many times have you tried to 'get away' with something in front of your heavenly Father, knowing that he's watching? We know he has an all-seeing eye; yet we think he doesn't see the LITTLE things we do or hear the little
insubstantial things we say. Little children have an innocent outlook on life, but we, as adults know better. A child sometimes doesn't understand the full impact that what he says or does has on his relationship with his parents. But we should
know that, to be in right order with the Lord, we have to be obedient as we expect a little child to be with us, as parents. Our heavenly Father expects and deserves obedience. We should give him no less!
God's Thoughts:
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we sometimes fail you. Our minds don't always comprehend the full magnitude of what we do or say. We may not follow the leading of our conscious to obey or ask forgiveness. Help us to not be ashamed to say we have sinned, and Lord, please forgive. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.
