Being Ready

Our Thoughts:

Yesterday, a community in New York City underwent another shock, in the wake of the bombings in Manhattan. They once again had to go through the terror they saw that day, when a plane hit their community, destroying homes and neighbors. One never expects something like this to happen, especially in our neighborhood. One never expects it to be us or our relatives. But, death knows no bounds, and we all will have to face death, regardless of the day or hour it may come.

Most of the people who died yesterday never knew what was going on, especially those who had their homes destroyed so quickly. We should always be ready to meet God, because, just as this incident shows, we never know when we might go out to meet Him. We want to be ready for eternal life with Him. We need to know our lives are in order, that we have given our lives to Him, accepted salvation through His grace and faith, getting in the Word daily, and being obedient to the Word.

God's Thoughts:

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Our Cup:

Heavenly Father, without you, we are lost. Help each to come to know your love individually, and be ready when death knocks at their door. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
