Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageThis Is A Test!
Our Thoughts:
Tests! To students, that is sometimes a bad word. They aren't always enthusiastic for taking a test. They may be unprepared or perhaps nervous, when they do take a test. There are lots of tests that we go through - doctors' tests (some of which we hate with a passion!), or 'tests of life' which each of us go through in our life time.
Most of us have seen the 'test' that is run on the airwaves to let us know if we are under attack. The 'test' lasts for
one minute, and there is a blackout on the program on television. Some tests are meaningful, some bring us a new perspective on life, and some just aren't to our liking (students can identify with that one!).
Then, there is the 'test of time'. Some use the time wisely, and others, such as the 5 virgins who didn't replenish the oil in their lamps, let the time slide. They are the people who are late for appointments, for church, and don't pay attention
to the clock. Each of us have twenty four hours in a day, and it's up to us what we do with it. In the story of the ten virgins, [Matt 25:1-13] we can be like the five wise virgins who kept their lamps trimmed, waiting on the coming of the bridegroom, or we are like the five foolish ones who weren't paying attention to time. In these last days before the coming of the Lord,
we need to be 'watching and waiting' for His coming. We have to be ready or we will miss Him! There is only two grades to a TEST - Pass or Fail. And, this is one test on which we want a passing grade!
God's Thoughts:
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us to be ready as the five wise virgins, who kept their lamps trimmed in anticipation of your return. We know your return is near. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
