Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageTell The Truth or a Lie?
December 13, 2001
Our Thoughts:
How many times have you heard some one say, "The devil made me do it"? You instantly knew they were lying! We make
our own choices in life, whether to be honest or be tagged a liar.
Little children do things and then lie about it. I know! I was a child, just like the rest of the adults out there. I remember hunting for a vase that my sister-in-law had given
me. It had been in my daughter's room, but she told me she didn't know what happened to it. While I was vacuuming her room one day, I happened to find the vase under the bed, with the rose broken off the front.
I asked her what happened and she again told me she didn't know how it got under there. She knew, but she chose to lie about it, because she thought she'd get in trouble. That's the way with most liars. They
hate to tell the truth because it might get them in trouble. Other liars lie out of habit. I sometimes think they lie so much that they feel they are telling the truth. Our former president lied his way through
his presidency. But, his lies will all come back to haunt him.
I am sure, if Ananias and Sapphira could come back and tell the truth, they would. Ananias sold property and held back part of the money, of which Sapphira was knowledgeable. When Ananias was confronted, he lied
about it and he died. Sapphira had a chance to tell the truth; yet, she lied as well and lost her life. [Acts 5:1-10] A lie may not bring you this price to pay, but how many people are hurt by just a 'little lie'? Actually, lies are little or big, or
white or black - they are just LIES. Remember, a 'little lie' makes us a liar, but the truth makes use HONEST!
Truth may be harder to tell at times, but, it's easier to tell the truth than a lie. With a lie, you forget what you told to whom, and you may be found out trying to back up a lie with another one!
God's Thoughts:
Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us to be truthful in everything we do. The enemy may tell us a lie is the easiest way out, and some believe. Man's mind is sometimes easily swayed by the devil. But, help us place our trust in you and always tell the truth. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
