Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageWalking A Fine Line
Our Thoughts:
Little children know how to play their parents! Ask one something, and you get the answer, 'ask Dad'. So, you go to Dad and say, 'Mom said it was okay, if you say okay'. So, Dad's going to
say 'okay' because Mom did. You have it made; they both agreed. Well, not really. You were walking a fine line between truth and lies. Neither really told you that it was okay; you used what they said to make it so.
One may go to the Father and ask a question and think you've received the answer. You proceed to do something that really goes against what God would have you do. You didn't really get the answer from God, but you 'heard
what you wanted to hear', and strayed from that fine line of following God in your life. God wants us to be free to do whatever we want, but He wants us to do right. He doesn't want us to suffer because of vain deeds. The enemy will perch
on your shoulder, and whisper in your ear, that what you are doing couldn't be wrong! Don't listen. The Bible says to think on only those things that would pleasing to God. Man does lots of things that aren't pleasing to God, and our mind thinks on
lots of things that isn't pleasing.
When I find my mind thinking things that I shouldn't, I also find my conscious telling me it isn't good. If I were to choose to keep thinking on those things unpleasing to God, the peace of God would escape me. I believe
lots of people get depressed because the devil has subjected them to so many things that they couldn't pass up, and their mind can't handle the consequences. They haven't realized disobedience to the precepts [Psalm 119:134] of God will bring dire consequences.
When you find yourself about to stray from that 'fine line', ask God to help you stay on the straight and narrow, to guard your mind by helping you to think only good thoughts.
God's Thoughts:
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, the enemy plays on our mind, hoping to get us into disobedience with thoughts and deeds that are unpleasing to you. Help us guard our mind and keep on the narrow path. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
