Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageWhat Really Matters?
Our Thoughts:
We often complain that we 'are poor', 'we have no money', why can't we have what the 'Joneses' have'....... among a
thousand other complaints! We can be safe in our homes, away from the weather that the homeless have to endure. Or, we can be eating from a table well endowed with the
goods of God's blessings while others in the world go hungry. Yet, we still are not satisfied with what we have.
A few friends and I were discussing our lives as newlyweds. Seems many learned to cook by 'experience'....for example, one friend left a turkey in the oven
on Thanksgiving for hours, only to come back and find that the oven was broken. I can imagine how she felt, being a newlywed, and wanting to 'impress' her new husband.
Each of us have had experiences throughout our lives that we feel warranted some attention other than what we got at the time. I know, when I first married,
I had no idea my husband, who was in the Air Force, would be going off overseas after only five weeks. But, here I was, a newlywed, in a strange town, left alone, on a new job.
The Air Force didn't bother to ask the wives if we wanted our husbands off in a strange land, during the Vietnam war. They just handed out orders, and our husbands responded.
That left us on our own, to 'root hog, or die poor'....a saying I'll always remember from my younger days!
All of us have come a long way since our early marriages. We've learned that we can manage with whatever we have, be it a little or a lot. We don't need approval
for what we do. We are individuals that have come through 'thick and thin' to realize that the world doesn't stop for us and our troubles. We have learned to 'grab a towel' and
'clean up the mess', without asking for help. We've learned 'to eat what's served on our plates', and not complain. Oh, it didn't come without mistakes, and I am sure we will
make other mistakes. But, we've learned that, through whatever troubles we are going, or will go, the only thing that matters is that we 'KNOW GOD'.
Being a Christian gives you access to the ONE that makes the 'difference in day and night' - gives you the ability to give your troubles to Him, and He will bring
you through them with victory. You might feel a little pain, but the agony will not be the same as it would have been, had you been on your own in this cruel world.
God's Thoughts:
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we are plagued with problems on every hand. Help us not to get bogged down in the problems and forget Whom we serve! We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
