Mind Your Own Business

dotOur Thoughts:

Hank Williams, Sr. had a song out called 'Mind Your Own Business'. Part of the song went like this: Mind your own business and you won't be minding mine. And, now to get to today's topic:

I would not be telling the truth, if I said I had never been in a situation where I would have liked to give advice - needed or not! And, I know I'm guilty of doing the same, if with nobody but my adult children. Who isn't guilty? But, the thought for this devotional came to me when friends and I were talking about something specific that has bugged us for a long time. It just won't go away and it hasn't been resolved. In other words, 'we' don't know the secret of what's going on, and we've tried our best to figure it out for ourselves. One of my friends was discussing it with her husband, and, leave it to a man to give us women the words we don't want to hear! His words were, "It's none of your business." End of discussion? Of course not; we are human.

How much more of the Father's business could we get done, if we applied ourselves faithfully every day? What if we gave no consideration to things around us and only listened to HIS voice? What if we told the enemy to get out of 'the camp', to leave us alone, for we wanted nothing to do with the situation? Oh, it's hard to not listen and want to intervene! It's not only women, but men, also, who have trouble keeping out of the situations! I know, for I am married to one. We all tend to want to run our kids lives. After all, the story goes, "Father Knows Best". Well, sometimes, our earthly father may know best, but, our heavenly Father always knows best! HE has the answers to all the questions we could ever put before Him. And we are to be 'about his business', and leave the other person's business alone.

If you are worrying about something of which you have no control, and want to interfere, don't! It will only make things worse. Turn it over to God, and let Him work it out for you. Perhaps, with prayer, God will do things that even you thought couldn't be done, and the entire mess will be fixed. You may find yourself thinking it was a miracle! But, God truly will help, if we will let him. His business is far less complicated than trying to run another person's business, I assure you!

1 Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, we are human and we always want to intervene where we shouldn't, to fix things that aren't broken. Help us to do the business commanded us by you, and to not interfere with other people's problems or lives. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
