Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageAre You Angry?
April 12, 2002
Our Thoughts:
Monday afternoon, we left home in anticipation of seeing our granddaughter in a soccer game. It was pretty weather. But, as it got
closer to the time of the game, it started to sprinkle. Well, we started on to the school where the meet was being held, and the rain started coming down very hard. So, we decided not to
go to the meet and get soaked. Good thing we didn't, because it rained the entire game - or, for the first half anyway, considering the coach of the other team called it at half time, The
count was one to one, resulting in a tie. My granddaughter was sort of upset that they came all that way to that school and got wet, only to play one half of the game. This is a team used
to playing in the rain! Well, it wasn't thundering and lightning, so why not?
Life never seems to go the way we plan. There is always a situation or someone getting into the way of our plans. They either take matters into their own hands, or they
do something that makes us have to change the plans we have made. Those girls came ready to play, regardless of the weather. But, their plans got changed, and they had no recourse but to
go back home with a tied game, rather than a win or loss.
Have you been met with obstacles that changed your plans lately? Was it a case of a have-to-change, or someone willfully changing them without asking you? How did it make you
feel? Did you over look the changes, or did you get angry?
It takes a strong person to overcome the feelings that come when we are upset. There's always the feeling in the back of our mind that we 'want to get even'. But God can help us
get over those feelings, and have peace. We need to roll our cares upon the Lord, and let Him help us control our anger. Getting upset is natural, but to act upon that anger is not a healthy thing
to do.
His Thoughts
Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, life deals us lots of things that are hard to take. Help us to control our anger, and cast our cares upon you that you might give us
peace. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
