Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageFishers of Men
Our Thoughts:
Sunday, we attended a tournament soccer game in which our young grandson played. Getting to the field, you had to cross over
a long wooden bridge that crossed over a small creek. It was a beautiful sight, all shaded by trees. It just made a great walk way 'to the other side'. Walking back across after the game,
a little fellow was very interested in what was down there. He and I struck up a conversation about what might be in the water. I asked him if he thought there were fish in those waters.
He answered, 'Yes, and I think I see some'.
We love to fish. And, I've spent many days on the bank, casting my line into the water, and brought out lots of good fish. The Father wants to make us fishermen also. But,
He is speaking of bringing into the fold those that are lost in the world, without any hope for tomorrow. That same power that was the Lord put in Peter and Andrew can be yours. He wants each of us
to be 'fishers of men', to testify to others His goodness, and to be a guiding light to everyone with which we come in contact. We need to be diligent followers of God, keeping our minds stayed on Him and
the work He has for us to do. We need to 'cast our line' into the 'water' everytime we see someone not living for Him. We, too, can be 'fishers of men', just like Peter and Andrew.
His Thoughts
Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help each of us to be the person you want us to be, reaching out to others who are lost. Teach us to be 'fishers of men'. We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
