Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageAnd The Floods Came!
Our Thoughts:
I remember my husband talking about the monsoons of Vietnam. Friday, I was wondering if perhaps we were in the line of a monsoon, seriously! I have seen rain, lots of rain, but it seemed this rain didn't want to stop. It would rain so hard, you could hardly see in front of you, if you were on the road. At other times, it would just stop, and the sky would seem to want to clear up. Just at the point of clearing, the sky would get very dark again, and down would come a big downfall. It did this almost all day long here where I live.
I scouted the 'news' and found a link to floods in states north and east of us, where people were caught in the deadly rains. Seems there are more and more places subject to floods than ever before, possibly brought on by man - we build, and perhaps don't take into account the way floods work, and before we know it, we are in a deadly flood.
The Bible speaks of a particular flood - the one from which Noah saved his family. People were living their lives as they saw fit. They weren't listening to God, but doing their own thing. So, God told Noah to build an ark and get his family on it, along with the animals. Then, GOD was going to bring a flood on the earth, and, those that hadn't heeded God's voice would be caught up in this flood and lose their life.
Disobedience can bring a 'flood of problems' in our lives. Obedience can erase those 'flood problems'. Noah obeyed; therefore, he and his family were all saved. Others disobeyed; therefore, they were lost.
In this uncertain world today, we need to 'make our election sure', that we hold on to what we know is truth - the Word of God, which gives us assurance of our entrance into that Kingdom of God for eternity. Let us not be overrun by today's 'flood'.
His Thoughts
2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, floods are very prevelant in today's fast world. Help us to be obedient, and able to run the race without being overtaken by the flood. We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
