Things Change, But..

dotOur Thoughts:

Things change. I was playing the piano and singing a song, and began to remember 'how things used to be'. I used to be part of a church quartet, and we would visit other churches. Once a month, we would minister at a local nursing home. Those times were very rewarding, in that we met and made friendships with the people there. The men and women there got used to us coming and we looked forward to them each month. But, after a good many years, things began to change. We lost part of our band, people moved, others quit singing and it died down. I can't say I don't miss it, because I do. I began to think about the people that used to sing with me - how life had changed for them. I am the only one left in that ministry still at the same church. Two have moved on to another church, and I don't believe any of the others even go to church, with the exception of the lead guitarist, which happens to be my son. His father-in-law is a pastor of a church and SURE -- he goes with his wife and son.

We look back at our past life sometimes, and wish that things could have stayed the same. But, no matter how we yearn for the present to be like the past, it never will be. People change, situations change; therefore, things will never be the same. We each grow, and we go in our separate ways. I once heard someone say that 'friendship is for a time'. Perhaps this is so about some friendships. Perhaps some situations, such as the music ministry, was only 'for a time'. God knows the time in which we ministered, and how much we loved what we were doing. But, as people change, situations follow afterwards. People become disheartened with their life, or with a person, and move on their separate way and we have no control over an individual.

Things change, BUT, God never changes. To His people, He will always be equally powerful, merciful, and self-sufficient. He will always welcome the repentant sinner, just as He welcomes your prayers, wants to give you your need, or heal your body. He still wants us to love righteousness and hate iniquity. Doesn't matter that the whole world around us is changing and falling apart, He is ready to help you through the perils of life, withstand the 'fallout', and endure until He returns for His church.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, life isn't the same from day to day. People change, situations change, and we get despondent. But, thank you for always being there when we call, ready to lend a helping hand, to guide us along the narrow path. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
