Hidden Meanings

Our Thoughts:

Have you ever noticed how some things are not what they are supposed to be? There are hidden meanings in almost everything now days. There are always the 'small print' in contracts, and, if not explained and understood, you may not be getting that for which you bargained!

My granddaughter brought home sheets of homework yesterday called 'hidden meanings'. There were words written inside little blocks, and she was supposed to figure out the hidden meanings of those words. Some were the same words repeated in the block; others were capitalized, or words that could mean something else entirely. She was supposed to write the 'hidden meaning'. But, the thing is this: will the meaning she wrote be the meaning the teacher wanted to hear? Each of us see things differently; therefore, we aren't all going to see the same meaning in a word.

There isn't anything hidden in the gospel. Yet, some make it so hard to understand. But, the Word says it is revealed to us by the Spirit. Some rely not on the Spirit, but on man to teach them the Word. I believe we have to study the Word and let the Holy Spirit bring the meanings to light. And, you may read a particular scripture over and over, and each time, you may find a new nugget of Truth! The more you study, the more you learn. But, the meanings aren't hidden - just not found.

Our Cup:

Heavenly Father, as we read your Holy Word, guide us with your Spirit into all truths. Open our eyes, that we might see the Truth and apply it to our lives. We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
