Rewards

Our Thoughts:

Each of us has probably worked for a reward, or promised a reward to someone. We promise our children, if they get good grades, we will reward them. If they do their chores, we will give them some money. An employer will reward good employees with a bonus or a gift of some kind, perhaps a trip. Some rewards are given for hard work over a period of time: a scholarship, pageant winner, sports awards, etc.

We are constantly working for rewards, whether we realize it or not - a good word spoken by someone to encourage us, an unexpected gift, a raise on the job - all of these are rewards for the person we are. But, there is a much more important reward to which we should be working. That is the reward of our heavenly inheritance.

We serve a living God, who will reward us, if we keep His commandments and follow after only Him. Having been made in His image and His likeness, this should be the most important reward sought after in our lives. But, so many do not realize what how important it is to live a Godly life, and to follow after holiness. But, the Bible says we will 'inherit the kingdom', if we follow after His righteousness with faith and patience. Within ourselves, we would get no where, but, with Him, 'all things are possible'. The great reward is waiting for all those that will 'Come follow me'.

Colossian 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Our Cup:

Heavenly Father, we struggle in this life for a reward. Help us to realize that life's greatest reward lies within our grasp, if we will serve you. We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
