Just A Matter of a Hook!

dotOur Thoughts:

All of you that have had husbands in the armed forces can identify with the 'hook'! My husband had just gotten out of basic training, when we got married. I wasn't up to the AIR FORCE policy of 'hooks'. I would hang up our clothes just the way I had hung mine all my life, which he said was unacceptable. So, I had to learn the military way - and, I can hear those words, spoken so many years ago! "The HOOK on the hanger goes toward the right sleeve." And, after thirty eight years of marriage, I've never forgotten. Go into our closets, all of them, and you'll find everything hung with the hook pointed toward the right shoulder. I've even become accustomed to the trouser legs being to the front, when I hang them on the hanger.

But, there are many 'hooks' in life. Some of them aren't as nice as the 'right hook' of the hanger. There's the 'hook' of alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs'. There are people caught up in adultery, promisicuity, and bigamy. Then, there are the every-day hooks: gossip, arrogance, lying, cheating, and backbiting, among many. And, you are surely acquainted with the saying, "She leads him around by a hook in the nose" - pertaining to a 'so-called' henpecked husband. The enemy will put a number of 'hooks' before you, and if you don't resist him, then he will have you 'hooked' before you know it! He will do it by 'hook or crook'....doesn't matter, as long as he has you entangled in the ways of darkness.

To make the RIGHT HOOK, we need to make a connection to the light - Jesus Christ. We need to realize the time of Christ's return is closer than it has ever been, and we need to mend our ways. We need to put off the works of darkness and 'dress' ourselves with the armor of God - ready to ward off the 'hooks' of the enemy.

dotHis Thoughts

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, the hooks of the enemy are many, and he's on the trail of all. Help us to identify the hooks and to be armed with the WORD of God, in order to refrain from becoming entangled in his woes! We give you praise! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
