Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageHungry?
Our Thoughts:
Looking out into our back yard, you would think we own a bird sanctuary! We keep bird feed out for the birds all through the years, and it
draws lots of different species. We have really been inundated with mourning doves, cardinals, blue jays, and house wrens. The titmouse, chickadees, and goldfinch have begun to return, as well as the red-bellied woodpeckers.
We hung a nut and fruit bell in a tree Monday morning. Today, I noticed that it is already over half gone. So, I've been taking note of the birds that make the most use of it. One in particular, the woodpecker, seems to
be the one that stays and feeds the longest, not letting another bird near until he decides to leave. The other birds are always scared off by another bird. The goldfinch will stay on a little longer, when being flogged by others, but nothing like the
woodpecker.
As Christians, we need to be diligent about 'feeding' from the Word. Like the woodpecker, it should be our desire to 'get full' before stopping to do something else. But, many times, we are in a hurry, and we only stay to get a sampling of
the food from the Word - not enough to sustain us through the hard times. We should strive diligently to heed the Word and keep his commandments and walk in His Ways. [Joshua 22:5] Studying the Word daily will help us reach this goal.
God's Thoughts:
Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us to be so hungry for your Word that we will study daily. With your help and our diligent study, we will have victory over all the adversary's actions! We give you praise.
. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
