Just A Rose Will Do

Our Thoughts:

I am a lover of flowers. And, this morning, discovering that our dog had dragged one of my large concrete flower pots off the retaining wall, turning it upside down and destroying all my beautiful begonias, I almost had a heart attack! You can imagine what I would love to have done with that puppy! The pot was put in the upright position by my husband, but the flowers are in ruins, never to see another day of sunshine!

Tonight we went to the funeral home to say our last good byes to the first member of my husband's high school class to die. We came upon one of the largest crowds of people I have ever seen! And, as we entered the Chapel, all you could see was flowers, flowers, flowers - of every kind, every color and every combination! It was as though you had entered the Garden of Eden - God's special garden of flowers! There were live, cut flowers, flowers arranged in pots, flowers arranged around pictures, and many, many green potted plants. They ranged from small to very large. There was not a bad looking flower among them! And, they were all left in memory of a very loved person, who, by conversation with others, proved to be a person who loved everyone else in return!

A Christian is one of God's hand-picked flowers - clothed in the righteousness of Christ and fragrant like the Rose. And, just as the stem of the Lily is weak, so are we without Christ, yet with Him, we are STRONG!

Our Cup:

Heavenly Father, one of your own has come home. Flowers were given in rememberance of His life, but we know that this is only in respect. He has lived a life that brought others to him in both life and death. And, now we realize he is in your garden of beautiful flowers! We give you praise. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
