Come As You Are
Our Thoughts:
When I was growing up, you usually dressed up for most occasions. You dressed in your best to go to church. On Sunday, it was always in dress clothes and heels for the women. And, when you were asked out on
a date, you tried to wear your best for whatever occasion it was. You tried to never be under or over dressed anywhere you went. The only place you would probably be caught 'casual' was at home, swimming, in the garden, or on the ball field.
Today, seems anything goes. Doesn't matter when or where, people seem to dress however they want to dress. Most invitations are sent out as casual - 'come as you are'. People even go to church dressed in any clothing they happen to pick up, it seems. You no longer see all the people dressed up on Sunday morning. It has become 'come as you are'.
God is a casual God, in that He says you can 'come as you are' to Him. You don't have to dress any specific way. You don't have to change anything. All you need to do is listen to Him when He calls, answer that call and give your heart and life to Him.
Then, He will do the changing within you. The 'want' will change. You no longer want to do things your way, but want to please God. You have the want to study the Word, to listen to what God has to say, and obey His Word. So, when He calls, don't hesitate. COME AS YOU ARE!! COME!
God's Thoughts:
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, so many refuse to come to you because they feel they can't live the life or they have to change before they will be received. Help them understand they can come the way they are and you will go the rest, when they give their heart to you. We give you praise! In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
