Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageFixing The Problem
Our Thoughts:
If you have a computer, it is eventually going to give you trouble. It might be from something you've done, a program you have installed
that doesn't work with your system, or it might be something malicious someone else has done to your computer.
To keep the malicious things out of our computer, (virus, trojan horses, etc) we need to keep an anti-virus program running continually. Also a firewall will help. I have both
on my machine. But, something failed night before last night. Yesterday, after an automatic upgrade of my anti-virus program, I got a warning that I had a virus in my system. Upon running the scanner,
I found I had four virus files on my computer! I tried deleting, but whomever wrote these virus' made them smart, in that you cannot just delete them. And, when you are running XP, it takes a little time
to fix the problem. You have to run in safe mode, and then try to get back to normal mode after you have took care of the problem. Well, getting back to normal mode was worse for me than having the virus problem.
Since I had not read the 'book' on how to do this, it took some hunting on the Internet to find the fix.
Our spiritual life can be like the computer. We get complacent, do not study the Word like we should, or go to church regularly. Then, our heart sort of gets accustomed to what we hear and see
in the world. Shortly, we find ourselves getting short in our temperament. We do things that we would not ordinarily do. And, the more we miss our time with God (reading the Word, worshipping), the worse we get.
And, it takes awhile to get back to where we were with God, before we allowed the world to come in. When we open the door to sin, the enemy gets a foothold, and he does not want to turn loose. If we don't turn to
God at the moment of our first mistake and repent, we will sink lower and lower. It is like the computer virus; it will soon destroy us. But, turning back to God, obeying his commandments, and keeping ourselves in
the Word (running our anti-virus software) can make us anew.
God's Thoughts:
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
