Daily Dose of God's Word At
Barbara's EntourageThe Word
Our Thoughts:
All of us know the saying: "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." I used to hear this all the time, but it
suddenly struck me that this wasn't true. Perhaps they can't touch our body, but they touch our mind and heart. The wrong words can be hurtful, and break a person who is unable to handle
those words. Many people do use words to hurt others intentionally.
Already, in the campaign for the Presidency, we've seen bad choices of words used. Accusations are hurled at candidates that aren't entirely true. And, there are people
that don't realize that they are untrue, and continue to believe the lies. This is very hurtful.
We should try to build up a person with our words, rather than tear them down. I've always heard, if you don't have something good to say, keep your mouth shut. And, this
is true. If you have to be mean, then it's best to not say a thing. We shouldn't go around telling people how ugly they are, how bad their hair looks, or how terrible their clothes look on them.
There's no reason to brag about our accomplishments to people that aren't as fortunate as we are. This is only hurtful and unnecessary. See, words do hurt.
There is a WORD, though, that may cut us to the core, but it has healing hidden within those very words. It will speak to us in our good times, and in our bad. It can be a comfort
during hurting times. The WORD of GOD is our life's blueprint. It holds the answers to all our questions. Hidden within the pages of the Bible are words of wisdom, encouragement, love, and the way we should conduct our lives.
If we follow the WORD of GOD, our lives will be fuller, more productive, and less stressful. The WORD can change our whole outlook on life.
God's Thoughts:
Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Proverbs 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, human words often do touch us and hurt. But your Word holds healing. Help us to keep in the Word and keep it near our hearts. We give you thanks and praise. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
