Are You A Gambler?

Our Thoughts:

Odd title for a Christian devotional? Not really, if you give it some thought.

Each day we do things that could be considered gambling. We drive down the road in our cars, speeding well above the speed limit. We are taking our lives in our own hands, by not obeying man's laws. Also, when we don't go the speed limit, we are playing 'a game of chance' - whether we will get caught or not.

We gamble with our health by not treating our bodies as we should. People know that smoking is bad and will cause lung cancer. Yet, millions of people keep right on smoking, because it's become a habit that's hard to break, or they love to smoke. They never stop to think that it's killing them - just gamble your life away with the next puff.

Then there's the 'spiritual gambling' that many do every day. They put GOD off another day, wanting one more day to do their thing. They think that, if they have a little longer to think, perhaps they'll give their lives to God. Or, they will clean up their act! They never consider that the next breath could be their last, and there would be no chance to get right with God. That is the biggest gamble of all - are you right with God?
