Hanging Out At The Well
Our Thoughts:
I am sure, before I write this, there are people saying, WHAT does she mean by 'hanging out at the well'?
WELL, just that, hanging out!! I'm not too young to remember using the well to get fresh water to drink, to do the laundry, and to water the flowers and the gardens.
If you didn't have enough water to do a chore, you prayed your neighbor had some to spare. You took buckets there to "draw" from their 'storehouse' of water.
As youngsters, we 'hung out' at the well with Mother, as she did her wash. We didn't have running water until I was pretty large. Besides, the fresh water
from our well was far better than any water you will taste today!! That was before the days of pesticides that get into the water streams, polluting ALL the water under the ground.
Remember Rebekah, the woman at the well? She drew 'water' from the well, gave it to the man to drink, watered his thirsty camels, and asked him to her father's house to lodge.
She, in return, was given gifts, and later, her father gave her to the man to wed. She was only doing her duties, and she hadn't realized this was by 'divine purpose' - for this was Abraham's servant, and a prayer had been prayed that
God provide him with a woman to wed.
The WELL isn't dry today; there is still "water" enough for provision for everyone. It will never run dry!
God's Thoughts:
Genesis 24:13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, thank you for suppling us with living water, that we may never thirst. To those that don't know you, let them RUN for the 'well' that they may drink freely. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
