Searching For Jesus?

You've all, by now, read about or saw Peter Jennings' documentary on "In Search of Jesus". I didn't get to see the program, but have read discussions since, and also read a review before the program was aired Monday night.

This morning, in a conversation with my pastor's wife, the scripture came up about Jesus' sheep KNOWING his voice. There is on reason to search for Jesus IF you know Him. You know that HE is the way, the truth, and life [ John 14:6 ], He is the door [ John 10:9 ], and that we were made in His image [ Genesis 1:26 ].

When someone is 'in search for Jesus', we need to point them to the WORD, not stir up a fishbowl of ideas that He might not be exactly WHO or WHAT he was betrayed as in the Bible, or that perhaps what he said might not have been exactly what he did say. Does the Bible say " 'Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.'?

We need not go by the world's idea of who Jesus was, but what the Bible says. We 'live by faith' [ Romans 1:17 ], and faith is ' Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' Jesus himself, in Mark 11:22 said, "Have faith in God". The Bible also tells us that, simply because some do not believe, it doesn't make the faith of God without effect.

If you are someone 'searching for Jesus', why not drag out the dusty Bible, get into His Word, and let Him come alive and reveal himself to you through His Word? The world may give you answers you WANT to hear, but are those truly the TRUE words of Jesus Christ, the Saviour, the one in whom you can find peace and obtain eternal life?
