Dressed In Our 'Every Day Wear' Our Thoughts:
A discussion has been on going on a list to which I subscribe, about how people would
flock to the church, if the presence of the Lord filled the place. My take on the subject was this:
Sinners come 'expecting' at times, and don't find what they are looking for in our churches. Too often, they are put off by man's way of doing things.
It's like we 'do church' instead of doing Jesus, and letting him have our whole lives, day in and day out. It would take EACH of us being faithful to JESUS completely 24 hrs a day, to have our churches filled with the real presence of the Lord - after all, WE are the vessels of the Holy Spirit.
Sinners see 'Christians' in their 'every day' wear, and it doesn't sit well with their thoughts and expectations of what a true Christian should be, so it makes them not want to go to church. It even makes a Christian not want to go at times, believe me! |
Now, in their 'every day wear', doesn't mean 'clothing', but in their Christian walk with the Lord. A person will be one way on Sunday in church, and, when you see them the next day at the mall, they are a different way. If you didn't know them from church, perhaps you'd not believe what you
saw!! That's MAN in MAN, not the Lord. Our 'inward man' should be changing daily to reflect MORE of the Lord, not less!!
God's Thoughts:
II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us show the world YOU in our lives. Help us separate ourselves from man's ways and saturate our beings with your ways. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
