Don't Look At Circumstances!
Our Thoughts:
The easiest way to get discouraged is to look at circumstances. We all tell people not to 'judge a book' by it's cover, meaning the
inside may be far more appealing than the cover! And a person that you are looking at, although might not be appealing to you from the outward appearance, may have a different inward attraction. You have
to get to know a person, before you can judge whether or not you will like what you 'see'.
Same way with our circumstances. They may look like they are out of control (humans never want to delinquish control!), humongous (too big for us to take!), or simply embarrassing (unappealing).
Sometimes when we get to looking at our circumstances, they 'take hold' of us, getting us over into doubt and unbelief. Case in point: a friend and I have started a newsletter from our respective sites on the internet.
She isn't getting the subscribers as quickly as she thought, and not all her friends have subscribed. I quickly said, "Remember, 'don't judge a book by it's cover'? Don't look at the circumstances, or you will get
very discouraged!" And, so would I. We all want our projects to soar to heights unknown to humans, to rise above all the others. That's just being human. But, being a Christian, we need to realize that things (1) happen in God' timing,
(2) happen for a purpose, maybe unknown to us at the time, (3) and GOD is never late with his answers.
We need to keep our sights focused on God and His Word, and what it says for us. Otherwise, we will quickly be over into doubt and unbelief! Keep the faith!
God's Thoughts:
Romans 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us keep focused on your Word, not on our circumstances. Help us relinquish control of all our worries to you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
