What Are We Saying To The World? Our Thoughts:
I can remember, when I was a child and a teenager, even up until I married,
how my Mother had a say in what I did, what I wore, etc. She made it plain there were certain ways a person acts that wants to
be well thought of - you dress a certain way, you present yourself a certain way. You don't smoke, do drugs, drink alcohol, or run with the wrong crowd;
otherwise, people perceive you to be like the crowd with which you run, whether it be good or bad.
In today's world, things seem to be so much different. Sure, parents do take a stand, to a certain extent, in a child's life. But, it's becoming the norm
for a child to be able to do things that don't put the right reflection on them, especially if they claim to be a Christian. Some of our well-known Christian singers
can't be distinguised from the average young person, in that they seem to wear whatever they 'feel' like wearing. Some of them wear provocative clothes, which speaks volumes
to their followers. Some of us parents are guilty in letting our children 'follow' and 'listen to' a singer, just because they call themselves Christian, without having ever
checked into their background, the way they present themselves to our children, or checking the lyrics of their songs.
We need to wake up, folks!! Our kids are 'becoming' more and more like the world, in their thinking, their dressing, their music, and we are letting them. I
hear Mothers say they don't like 'such and such', BUT my kid does.......folks.....wake up!! Who is the parent? You are condoning that which you don't approve, when you continue to
let your children have, do, or listen to certain things. Even the clothes most Christian children wear now days is getting to be more 'like' the world. I hear people saying lots,
"We don't want them to feel different". Hey, they are different, if they are God's children. He tells us to come out of the world - we are in it, but we don't have to act like the world.
You can call it legalistic; you can call it bondage. But, I call it morals. I'd rather be leaning toward what some deem legalism in my dress, ways, or thinking, than to be
sending the wrong message to others about 'who' I really am. People may mean well, and may never mean to present themselves in a suggestive manner; nevertheless our dress and ways speak
volumes in themselves to the world. Why would they want what we got? We are beginning to be just like them - only difference? We go to church.
God's Thoughts:
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Our Cup:
Lord, bring us closer to you. We want to walk the way you want, so direct our paths that we never stumble or be a stumbling block for another. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
