Even The Winds Obey

Our Thoughts:

The other afternoon, the weather seemed to be fine. My husband had just walked over to the mailbox and back. I was taking a shower, and we were about to go out for dinner and to the grocery store. While I was in the bathroom, I kept hearing these noises, and I assumed my husband was in the other bathroom. But, as they got louder, I figured out that something was going on outside, so I opened the bathroom curtain. The winds were blowing so strong, the trees above our house were rocking back and forth, as though they were bending, and about to break. The wind took our patio swing and blew it across the driveway. My beautiful hanging flowers were being ravaged. What was once beautiful, now looked as though it wouldn't make it.

Watching the strong winds moving the trees so easily, and expecting a storm, I felt a little like the disciples, as they were in the ship. The the storms came and they thought they were about to be destroyed. It looked, to my human eye, that destruction was surely on the way. Then, I remembered the one that can turn a storm into perfect calm, the one who says our thoughts are not his thoughts, and our ways are not his ways. [ Isa 55:8 ]. I prayed over that storm, and gave it to Him. There is nothing too big that He can't handle. We may have fear in time of trouble, but he can handle anything we bring to Him.
