TOP OF THE MANTLE

Hello from Barbara's Entourage

We've survived the Fourth of July. Oh, I know; many of us ate too much barbecue, succumbed to the heat, and drooled over the fireworks displays. That's nothing new for the fourth!

We've made it to today, by the 'Grace of God'. He has sustained us through thick and thin, the bad and the good, the hurts and discomforts of life, the headaches and mistakes, and even from ourselves. Sometimes, we are our own worse enemy.

Today is a new day. So let's practice the Word. Scripture says the Lord made today and we ' will rejoice and be glad in it'. Notice, it says WE WILL - not God will make us, but we will. So, it's up to us to have a good day and to rejoice and give praises to the Lord. I hope you choose to have a good day and worship the Creator!

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Thankfulness is basic to religion. It consists in realizing that life itself is a gift and a privilege. The good things of the world about us come from the bounty of a power beyond us. The religious man constantly reminds himself of this dependence upon God and is duly thankful.

DUST IF YOU MUST

Dust if you must but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Remember, a house becomes a home when
you can write "I love you" on the furniture....

SNIPPET FROM THE MANTLE
A word or two from ......

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE

"Lean on Me, for I am Meek and Lowly of Heart"

Be Humble
1. Humble with God

Look upon yourself as a hired servant of God, to whom He has promised a rich reward at the end of the day He calls life; each morning hold yourself in readiness to obey all His commands, in the way He wills, and with the means He appoints.

The command may not always come direct from the Master: it would be too sweet to hear only God's Voice; but He sends it by means of His ambassadors; these go by the names of superiors, equals, inferiors, sometimes enemies.

To be continued.

By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880
