Hello from Barbara's Entourage
Winning The Race
This is the weekend of a race at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama. The Interstate leading into the Speedway is always crowded on Friday before the main race, for the time trials. Then, both Saturday and Sunday mornings, the Interstate is a little less crowded, simply because most of those coming in for the race have brought their motor homes along and stay on the grounds. Many people come from far and near to watch their favorite race car drivers come out on the field and perform. But, they know that only one driver will come out the victor.
Most of us have been in some sort of race in our lives. There usually was a prize given for first, second, and third places. The first place prize was the one for which we always strived. But, we were usually happy to, at least, get second or third. Fourth was not a valued win!
There's another race each of us are running every day. It's not your usual action run, but the kind of race where your ability to adhere to the commandments of God comes into play. This is the race of a lifetime. It is a race for the soul, so persevere with all your strength. Watch out for the pitfalls of life, and the snares of the enemy. Run this race to WIN!
1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Heavenly Father, help us run the race for eternal life with you with diligence. Keep us from the snares of the enemy and in your perfect will. We give you praise. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
All Scriptures are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

Italian Omelet
Ingredients
1 lb (about 3 medium) russet potatoes
2 Tbsp olive oil
4 eggs
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 tsp each salt, paprika & Italian herb seasoning
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup (2 oz) shredded cheese (part-skim mozzarella, Cheddar, Swiss, Fontina or Monterey Jack)
Method
Slice potatoes 1/16-inch thick. In 12-inch non-stick skillet heat oil over medium heat. Spread potatoes in skillet in an even layer. Cook, turning occasionally, until browned, crisp and cooked through, about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in small bowl whisk remaining ingredients except cheese. Pour egg mixture evenly over potatoes. Sprinkle cheese on top. Cover and cook until cheese is melted and eggs are set, about 5 to 6 minutes. Slide onto warm plate. Cut into wedges to serve.

'THIS AND THAT' ...
Joy, Humor, and Faith on the net!

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the
examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on
the other side."
Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."
"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other
side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side of which
came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog
sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never
been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing
except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in
without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do
know one thing...I know my Master is there and that is enough."

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE

OUR DEAD
The first that presents themselves are the sweet years of childhood, so fresh, so guileless,so happy.
They were made up of loving caresses, beautiful rewards, and fearless confidence: the words, pain, danger, care, were unknown; they brought me simple pleasures, happy days without a thought for the morrow, and only required from me a little obedience.
Alas! they are dead . . . and what numberless things have they carried with them! What a void they have left!
