Hello from Barbara's Entourage
The Directions
We were given directions right to the soccer field this afternoon, or so we thought. We turned on the correct road, rode the two miles passed the school (mistake), passed the school buses, and no field! We were told, 'if you get to the stop sign, then you've gone too far'. Hey, the stop sign was no where near the school - way beyond that. So, we turned around and came back. Then, we were phoned new directions - turn left at the school buses. Hey, there was no road by the school buses, but then, the message came: 'turn right at the light by the fire station'. Now, why wasn't that in the original directions?
Have you ever tried to follow directions, only to find yourself lost, or you've gone so far out of the way, you wonder if you will find your way back? I don't like second-hand directions! I want the message relayed to me personally, and then, only by someone who really knows where they are sending me.
Spiritually, we need to be following directions, but only from someone who knows where they are sending you - someone you can rely on to give you directions you can stake your life on! The Bible holds directions from God - the one who lays out the directions to follow to eternal life. Directions should be easy to follow, and I don't think there is another set of directions that could get you directly on the right path more than these! His directions are: 1) Follow me, 2) Keep my commandments, 3) Endure to the end. We are to follow the straight and narrow path, always walk in love, and trust totally in God. The enemy will come against you at every turn, but, if you keep your eyes upon the Lord, then the enemy can't get to you. Be careful never to leave the door open to your spiritual life with sin, or satan will surely attack!!
The next time you feel you have gone in the wrong directions and lost your way, stop to talk to God. He's ready to listen and guide you safely back into the arms of safety!
