Hello from Barbara's Entourage
Life Happens - Part II
It's another week, and life is still happening! It never stops, and won't, until the world comes to an end. Again, I've been in the funeral home - a neighbor died. He had a long life and has gone to be with the Lord. But, no matter how old a person gets, we never want to give up our own!
And, school has once again started. The children and teenagers are out practicing all the sports, which brings me to another situation this week of 'life happening'. My grandson is a freshman, and a football player. Thursday afternoon, at practice, one of his fellow-team mates was tackled and his neck was broken. This was a tragic event, not only in both this boy's life and in his family, but also in the lives of those fellow players. It struck them so hard, lots of them were contemplating quitting football. They didn't think it was worth a broken neck.
But, when tragedy strikes and 'life happens', and the going gets tough, children seem to band together. Although they were ready to quit yesterday afternoon, this afternoon, they were all in the hospital cheering up their friend. He told his Mom he never knew he had so many friends! Not only were they there to support him, but to pray for him. Seems these young men decided that prayer works - they all joined hands, bowed their heads, and one of them initiated the prayer. My daughter said it brought tears to all the Moms there with their sons.
And, prayer does work! This young man's neck is broken. But, after surgery, they found the spinal cord wasn't severed and he's breathing on his own, and has no halo! Things looked so bleak out on the field, with their friend laying there and the Life Saver Helicopter showing up to airlift him to the hospital. But, now, they have hope -hope in the God of enough, the Almighty One, the Alpha and Omega, the provider, the healer - the ONE and only God!
If life is happening to you, and it doesn't fit the bill you wanted, turn that life over to God. He's there waiting to take you under His wings, to give you peace that you need, to heal the hurts and pains of life, and give you a life abundantly above anything you could ask or think!

ZUCCHINI BREAD
Ingredients:
3 eggs
3 tsp. vanilla
1 cup oil
2 cups grated zucchini
3 cups all purpose flour
2 and 1/2 cups sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup nuts (optional)
Beat the eggs, vanilla, oil and sugar together. Add remianing ingredients and mix well. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 30 degrees for approximately one hour. This recipe makes two loaves.

A Thief In The House
A horrible thing happened to me today.....
a thief broke into my house.
It happened shortly after I awoke this morning.
I got up and began rushing about. I had a
thousand things on my list and was already
running behind.
Quickly, I gulped down breakfast, took a shower
and got ready for work.
In my rush, I forgot to turn the security
system on at my house. It was just about a
half an hour later that the thief broke in.
Of course, he didn't make a sound. Just kind
of snuck inside, not drawing any attention
to himself. In fact, none of the neighbors
ever saw him.
But, I did.
You see, I WAS HOME when the thief broke in.
He naturally startled me, as I was unprepared
for his visit. He, of course, didn't announce
that he was coming and I certainly had not
invited him over.
And yet, I found myself face to face with
danger and I felt so powerless. I also felt
so very stupid, because this whole incident
could have been avoided if I had just taken
the time to turn the security system on.
You better believe I'll be turning it on
tomorrow morning!
I thought I'd warn you about this guy,
because he's still on the loose. Chances
are, he's in your area. Possibly even
headed for your house.
His name? His name is Satan. You see,
this morning when I jumped up in my haste
to get started on my busy day, I skipped
my prayer time - opting to "pray later
today." In other words, I DIDN'T TURN ON
THE SECURITY SYSTEM.
My defense wasn't on, my guard was dropped...
..and when the thief came into my home to
attack me, I was unprepared to do battle.
He tempted me and I felt powerless. Like
I said, I also felt so very stupid, because
I could have avoided the incident if I had
just taken the time to pray.
My friend, the thief has come to "steal,
kill and destroy." And, as a Child of God,
you are on his "hit list." He'll probably
pop over to your house today. He may be
lurking outside your door right now, just
waiting to catch you off guard.
Take time to pray this morning. Bind Satan
from your very presence, to protect you and
empower you to do battle. In short...
...don't forget to turn your security system on.
