TOP OF THE MANTLE

Hello from Barbara's Entourage
What's On Your Agenda?
This Sunday is considered Super Bowl Sunday. So many have been waiting all football season for the final test of the ability of the two teams considered to be the best of the best. The truth will finally found out in the afternoon, when the two teams meet for the last time this season. Perhaps your team will win; perhaps not.
Many will head off to church in the morning, avidly awaiting the Sunday message. There is nothing like a wonderful Sunday morning with teaching in Sunday School and then the morning preaching. It just seems to make the day and the week go so much better, to start it off in the Word.
Many will sleep in, waiting for the afternoon game. They won't miss going to church. Perhaps they don't go often, or maybe not at all. But, they live to watch that ball game! And, they'll be right there on that couch, or in the stadium, when the kick off takes place, ready to cheer on their team.
What will you be doing on this Sunday? Will you usher the week in with attendance at the local church? Will you worship God in faith and truth? Or will you be one of those thousands of people who let the day pass, sleep in the morning, and watch the game on television in the afternoon?
There's nothing wrong with a good football game. But, GOD desires our love and obedience. Let's give Him the best we have to give - ourselves completely.
Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
[When] Jesus Himself fasted, He was not fasting to repent or to
bring His desires under control, of course, but to demonstrate
His absolute dependence upon His Father.

Marie Callender's Lemon Cream Cheese Pie
Crust
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Cream Cheese Filling
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
Lemon Filling
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
dash salt
1 cup water
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Make the crust by combining the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter and sugar in a small bowl. Press the crust mixture into an 8-inch pie pan.
Prepare the cream cheese filling by mixing cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla and an egg using an electric mixer. Mix well until smooth. Pour cream cheese filling into graham cracker crust and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until center is cooked. A knife stuck in the middle of the filling should come out mostly clean.
As the pie cools, make the lemon filling by combining 1/2 cup sugar with cornstarch, salt and water in a small saucepan. Set mixture over low heat and bring to a simmer, stirring often.
Whisk in egg yolks, then add lemon juice and butter. When mixture simmers again remove it immediately from the heat.
Pour the lemon filling over the cream cheese filling, and let the pie cool. When cool, chill pie in the refrigerator for several hours before serving.
Slice into 6 pieces to serve restaurant-size portions.

O JESUS! who with infinite tact didsst await, seated at the roadside, the opportunity for doing good simply asking a small service of the poor Samaritan woman Thou wouldest save, and draw to Thee.
