TOP OF THE MANTLE

Hello from Barbara's Entourage

We Need To Wake Up, Folks!!

I know it's not politically correct to talk Biblical issues along with political issues. But, you'll find I'm not a politically correct person. I am one that believes GOD has a place in every facet of our lives, including the political arena. And, it seems that God and the Bible have both been thrown in the corner, and trampled in the world lately. And, there's one place that we need GOD more than anywhere these days, and it's in this Presidential election. We need His advice; after all, He is the one that sees and hears everything, and there's nothing that He doesn't know!

This campaign has started off with so many accusations and assertions and lies, it's not funny! And, when they are meet with truth, the opposition is accused of going after the candidate personally. But, when is it wrong to bring up the facts, the true facts, when someone is running for office? After all, they hammered President Bush about his use of drugs and his drinking, and still are, although those things are behind him now.

I think we need to wake up, listen to the truth about the candidates, not the things that are being fed us by their press releases or the speeches being given. After all, those things are supposed to show the person in a good light. But, sometimes the true character of a person comes through when you are least expecting it - like the mike being on when it isn't supposed to be, and unflattering words come from the mouth of the candidate.

People, we are in a race for life in this election!! I can see globalization on the horizon, full take over by the U.N., and another cut in our military power, if the wrong person is elected. These are perilous times, with terrorism on the rise, and we need a President that will listen to the voice of God and do accordingly. I'm happy to know that we have a person in the White House today that is not ashamed to mention GOD wherever he is, without regard of being politically correct. I know he takes much flack. But, Jesus took lots of flack, too. In fact, He died so we could have the freedom we do today. If we aren't careful, that freedom is going to flee right before our eyes!!

We need to go beyond the fancy speeches, and listen to the heart of the message of the candidates. Let their records speak for them. Do we want a president that is wishy-washy, changing his mind and convictions with every change of season, or when he is caught in a lie? Or, do we want a president that will stand up for his convictions, whether they are politically correct or not?

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

SNIPPET FROM THE MANTLE
A word or two from ......

Faith News

In what could be deemed a 'love offering, a professional golfer and Christian has given his church his winnings from a tournament in which he confronted a heckler. Last week, Davis Love III donated to St. Simons Presbyterian Church in St. Simons Island, Ga., the $700,000 he won in the Match Play Championship, where his confrontation with a heckling fan overshadowed his second-place finish, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
