Hello from Barbara's Entourage

Mothers and Prayer

Mothers and prayer go hand in hand! Many mothers would be lost, if it were not for prayer, for prayer has saved many a wayward child!

Children don't realize how much mothers worry about them when they aren't in their present company. They go on their merry way, most of them, doing 'their thing', and not giving a thought to whether or not they will add to mother's worries. But, there Mother is at home, walking the floor, ringing her hands, crying out to God to take care of her little ones (big ones, too!), and waiting for that telephone call or dreadful knock on the door.

I remember, long ago, walking the floor because my son hadn't come home from his Friday night job on time. The job was a good thirty five minutes from our home, up a four lane Interstate highway, not to mention my son was only seventeen at the time. He was closing that Friday night, so I knew he would be home early hours of the morning. But, he never came in! So, I walked the floors, peering out the window, waiting for his car to come around the corner. But, nothing happened. This was before cell phones became so handy. When he finally rolled in after daylight, he explained - something he should have asked me about beforehand. His girlfriend was taking her SAT test at the nearby college. So, in order to see her for a few minutes, he parked his car in the college parking lot to wait for her to arrive and went to sleep!! I would have been more terrified, had I known that.

Mothers must have steel hearts; otherwise, they would break easily! Our hearts are tested so much during the growing up years of our children. And, they continue to be tested even though our children are grown and out of our homes, perhaps even married with their own children. Once a mother, we continue to be a mother - nothing changes, until the day we die. Our children are on our hearts and minds daily. And old saying goes, 'they may walk on your toes when they are young, but they will walk on your hearts when they are grown'. This is so true.

So to all you Mothers out there, Happy Mother's Day. May your child never deal you misery (sure), and may he/she always be in constant contact with God. He is the one that can keep Mother at peace, knowing that her child is walking arm and arm with the Lord.

Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise)

Proverbs 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Stay firm, He has not failed thee,
In all the past,
And, He will go and leave thee
To sink at last?
Nay, He said He will hide thee
Beneath His wing,
And, sweetly there in safety,
Thou mayest sing.

Faith lives in a broken heart. "He cried out with tears, Lord,
I believe." True faith is always in a heart bruised for sin.
Saving faith always grows in a heart humbled for sin, in a
weeping eye and a tearful conscience.

Easy Chocolate Truffles

1/4 cup heavy cream
8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, cut in small pieces
6 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
6 pecan sandies or 1/4 cup fine cocoa

Step 1: In a heavy, small saucepan, bring the cream to a boil. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate and butter. If necessary return to heat for 30 seconds while stirring until chocolate is completely melted and well blended.
Step 2: Pour chocolate mixture in a shallow glass or plastic container and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
Step 3: Process pecan sandies in food processor or blender to make very fine crumbs, and scatter them on a pie plate. Line a glass, airtight container with waxed paper. Dip a melon baller in warm water and scrape it across the surface of the cold truffle mixture to form a 1/2-inch ball. Drop the ball into the crumbs and repeat with the rest of the mixture.
Step 4: Roll the chocolate balls around the crumbs until well coated.
Step 5: Transfer the truffles to the prepared container and separate layers with additional wax paper. Cover tightly and keep refrigerated. Makes around 35 small truffles.

Mother's Day at the Sunday Funnies

I've sure gotten old. I've had 2 By-pass surgeries. A hip replacement, new knees. Fought prostate cancer, and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation, hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends.

But..... Thank goodness, I still have my driver's license!

An elderly woman from Brooklyn decided to prepare her will and make her final requests. She told her rabbi she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Bloomingdales.

"Bloomingdales!" the rabbi exclaimed. "Why Bloomingdales?"

"Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week."

Reporter interviewing a 104 year-old woman:

"And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked.

She simply replied, "No peer pressure."<>/p>

God Wants You (To Grow)

Recognize that you can't get holy in a hurry.
