Hello from Barbara's Entourage

That Day Is Quickly Approaching

We often become complacent in our actions. We think 'all is well', so why push ahead? There seems to be no need for us to do anything else but sit and wait.

November 2nd, and election day is quickly approaching. Have you considered voting? Have you been reading upon each candidate and his beliefs? Have you checked them out as to how they might run our country, if elected? Do you know their stand on important issues? Can you trust the candidate you have chosen to vote for to do what he says he will do?

Just as the day is quickly approaching for voting for a new President, so is the day of God's return quickly approaching. Are we responsible in our actions, or are has our lives become so complacent, that we are just 'waiting' for him to call our name, and we will 'come up hither'?

I'm afraid some may become so complacent that they will miss the last trump, and God's command to come up. It's like the parable in the Bible of the ten virgins, some of whom kept their lamps trimmed and ready for whatever came. But, there were five of the virgins that were complacent until the last minute. Then, it was too late to get oil, and they were left out in the cold. Is it that way with you or someone you know? Is there a problem with keeping busy in God's Kingdom until that day comes? Are you keeping your eyes fastened on Him, and your trust placed completely in Him? Nobody ever wants to hear the words, "I never knew you".

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

All Scriptures are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

Satan's Lies, God's Truth: Hearing God's Voice

We must choose between facing toward our feelings and facing toward God's facts. Our feelings may be as uncertain as the sea or the shifting sands. God's facts are as certain as the Rock of Ages, even Christ himself, who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. "

Saucy Apple Pork Roast

1 (3.5 to 4-pound) pork top loin roast (double loin, tied)

3 cloves garlic, cut into thin slices
1 tsp coarse salt or salt
1 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
3 medium apples, cored and cut into wedges
1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp dry mustard

Trim fat from meat. Cut small slits (about 1/2-inch wide and 1-inch deep) in meat; insert a slice of garlic in each slit. In a small bowl combine salt, rosemary, and black pepper. Rub rosemary mixture evenly over meat. Place meat on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Insert a meat thermometer into center of meat. Roast in a 325°F oven about 2 hours or until meat thermometer registers 155°F.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine apples, apple juice, brown sugar, lemon juice and dry mustard. Add apple mixture to roasting pan the last 30 minutes of roasting.

Transfer meat to a serving platter. Cover meat loosely with foil; let stand for 10 minutes (the meat's temperature will rise 4°F during standing). Remove the rack from roasting pan. Stir the apple wedges into pan juices.

Cut the mat into slices. Serve the meat with apple mixture.

Substitute at the Pearly Gates

After a long illness, a woman died and arrived at the Gates of Heaven. Saint Peter came by and the woman said to him "This is such a wonderful place! How do I get in?"

"You have to spell a word," Saint Peter told her.

"Which word?" the woman asked.

The woman correctly spelled "Love" and Saint Peter welcomed her into Heaven.

About six months later, Saint Peter asked the woman to watch the Gates of Heaven for him one day. While the woman was guarding the Gates of Heaven, her husband arrived.

"I'm surprised to see you," the woman said. "How have you been?"

"Oh, I've been doing pretty well since you died," her husband told her. "I married the beautiful young nurse who took care of you while you were ill. And then I won the lottery. I sold the little house you and I lived in and bought a big mansion. And my wife and I traveled all around the world. We were on vacation and I went water skiing today. I fell, the ski hit my head, and here I am. How do I get in?"

"You have to spell a word," the woman told him.

"Which word?" her husband asked.
