TOP OF THE MANTLE

Hello from Barbara's Entourage

How's Your World?

Ever had something go wrong, right when it would be the worse time for it to happen? Isn't that the way life works?

We were almost to the Friday night football game for our grandson's team, when we started feeling our car acting up. It is a bad feeling, when you are on a crowded Interstate, miles from home, and the car sounds like it is about to go it's 'last mile'. But, we kept going, and made it to the ball game. But, then, when we started the car to come home, we actually felt we wouldn't even get out of the parking lot, let alone all the way home. But, we made it home, and now, it's in the shop for repairs.

The car problem is on top of the washing machine problem! When I start my washer, I never know if it's going to do a full wash, or I have to unplug it from time to time, let it 'decide' it wants to wash, then plug it back up. At other times, I might wash three or four loads of clothes with it never giving me a problem. This is really a puzzling problem.

But, as I said, "Isn't this the way life works?" We wake up in the morning, expecting to be able to jump out of bed, have our morning cup of coffee, and face the day with no problems. That is, most of us do. I am sure there are lots out there that have to literally roll out of bed, unable to stand up, when they first get up, and life doesn't feel good to them, first thing in the morning. There's not one of us that can say for surety, that we will be able to get up in the morning. In fact, we don't even have the assurance that we will even be breathing in the morning.

Hopefully, some where along the line, I have gotten your attention. If it wasn't with the repairs we are facing in our every day life, perhaps it's the bodies we are living in that got your attention. Most of the time, material things can be fixed, or they can be replaced with new things. Most of the time, our bodies can be repaired or medicated, in order to give us a better way of life. At other times, these old bodies just get older and harder to repair on their own, and sometimes doctors aren't able to help us at all. That's when we find out it's not a perfect world out there, and we have to find someone else to fall back on. Hopefully, each of you reading has found that someone. His name is Jesus.

Jesus is our HOPE, when we feel there is absolutely no hope for us. He is our healer, even when the doctors say there is no hope for this old body. He is our Deliverer, when we feel like nobody can get us out of a mess. And, He will be our Savior, even when we don't even feel we are worthy of being saved! And, He is our Redeemer! He paid the price on the cross so that we could go free! He took our sins on his body, so that we could be forgiven. And, he arose from the grave, and ascended to the Father, and will one day soon return for His Church - those of us who are waiting and watching for His return! Our bodies may be sickly now, in need of repair. But, at the moment He reaches out for His people, those bodies will know no more pain, and we won't be sick any longer!! We shall be changed for eternity!

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

God Is Our refuge

<((< -- <((< -- <((< -- <((< -- <((< -- <((<

The devil has two master tricks. One is to get us discouraged; then for a time at least we can be of no service to others, and so are defeated. The other is to make us doubt, thus breaking the faith link by which we are bound to the Father. Look out! Do not be tricked either way!

The CROSS

A young man was at the end of his rope, seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.

"Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room.

Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief and said, "Thank you Lord," and he did as he was told.

Upon entering the other room, he saw many crosses; some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. The Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagined.
