Hello from Barbara's Entourage!

Twenty Nine weeks ago, I began this newsletter for the glory of God, with only a handful of subscribers. Actually, they were friends that I asked to check it out. I had no idea that it would be interesting enough, beneficial, or satisfying to those hungry for more of God. Now, there are 308 subscribers reading this newsletter, hopefully.

I've tried to bring to this newsletter, and it's subscribers, articles and links that I would want to see in another newsletter of it's likeness. There are many newsletters on the net, but not many that get my attention, after the first few times. So, for my readers, I try to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit, in presenting those items that He would be happy to see, if He were a reader.

I learned long ago that it's not about numbers, although it's a much better feeling to have lots of subscribers than a few. It gives the mind confidence, while the heart says, 'It's God's move. Let Him bring those that would best benefit to the newsletter. Don't sweat it!'

Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Joy, humor, faith on the net!

Much In The Window, Nothing In The Stockroom

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgment;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much,
smoke too much,
spend too recklessly,
laugh too little,
drive too fast,
get too angry too quickly,
stay up too late,
get up too tired,
read too seldom,
watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.

We've conquered outer space, but not inner space
we've done larger things, but not better things
we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
we've split the atom, but not our prejudice;
we write more, but learn less;
plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
we have higher incomes; but lower morals;
more food but less appeasement;
more acquaintances, but fewer friends;
more effort but less success.

We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;
we've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
tall men, and short character;
steep profits, and shallow relationships.

These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
more leisure and less fun;
more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips,
disposable diapers,
throwaway morality,
one-night stands,
overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer,
to quiet,
to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom.

A word or two from....

Rev. Scott Welch

What are your children learning about Marriage, Family and Divorce in School? "Why nothing" you might say, "They don't have any classes that teach about these subjects. Don't be so quick with that thought. Our children are being taught about these subjects everyday in the classroom, on the Television set and the playground. The good news is you are a more powerful teacher and influence on your children then any of these others

Hallowed Be Thy Name

To hallow Thy Name, O Lord, is to pronounce it with reverence and awe.

Today I will pray more fervently, try to realize Thy Presence, Thy Goodness, Thy Love; and my heart shall be a sanctuary into which nothing shall penetrate that could be displeasing unto Thee.

To hallow Thy Name is to call upon it fervently, to have it constantly upon my lips; above all, before taking an important step, when there are difficulties to be overcome, I will softly whisper the Invocation, which is the secret of all holy living! "Jesus, meek and humble of heart, have pity upon me."
