Hello from Barbara's Entourage!

Life is a challenge. Each day, we are faced with things that are either easy, hard, or things that seem to be inconceivable. The inconceivable things seem impossible to manage. But, with God, all things are possible, if we believe. We must _believe_ that HE is who He said He was, and that He will do what he said He would do.

There's nothing in life insurmountable, if we have our hope anchored in Jesus, and we keep our faith in Him. We have to be diligent to seek the face of God, to lean on Him, and cast all our care upon Him. Keep the faith, and never let the enemy steal your joy! If the enemy tells you that something is impossible - press on! For with God, all things are, indeed, possible!

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

In the not too distant past
-I remember very well-
Grandma's tended to their knitting,
and their cookies were just swell.
They were always at the ready,
when you needed some advice.
And their sewing (I can tell you)
Was available -and nice.
Well, Grandma's not deserted you.
She dearly loves you still.
You just won't find her cooking,
but she's right there at the till.
She thinks about you daily
you haven't been forsook.
Your photos are quite handy,
in her Pentium notebook.
She scans your art work now though,
and combines it with cool sounds,
to make electronic greetings.
She prints pictures by the pounds.
She's right there when you need her,
You really aren't alone.
She's out now with her "puter" pals,
but she took her new cell phone.
You can also leave a message
on her answering machine;
or page her at the fun meet.
She's been there since nine fifteen.
Yes, the world's a very different place,
there is no doubt of that.
So "E" her from her web page,
or join her in a chat.
She's joined the electronic age,
and it really seems to suit her.
So don't expect the same old gal,
cause Grandma's gone "Computer".

The touch of the Master's Hand

It was battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while,
To waste much time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile:
"What am I bidden, good folks." he cried,
"Who will start bidding for me?
A dollar, a dollar, now two, only two?
Three dollars once, three dollars twice...
And going for three..." but no;
For the room far back a gray-haired man
Stepped forward and picket up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin.
And tightening the loose strings,
He played them a melody, pure and sweet,
As pure as an angel sings.
The music stopped, and the auctioneer said
In a voice that was quiet and low:
"Now, then, what am I offered for the old violin?"
As he held it up with the bow...
"One thousand dollars, now who'll make it two?
Two thousand, and who'll make it three?
Three thousand once, three thousand twice...
And going... and gone!" said he.
The people cheered, but some of them cried:
"We did not really understand
What changed it's worth?" -- swift came the reply:
"The touch of the master's hand."
And many a person with life out of tune,
And battered and scarred with Sin,
Is auctioned cheap to the mindless crowd,
Much like the old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game, and they travel on...
They're going once, they're going twice,
They're going... and almost gone.
But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd,
Never will really understand
The worth of a soul, and the change that is brought,
By the touch of the Master's Hand.

Dale Earnhardt described as a "Quiet Man of Faith"

Chaplains Max Helton and Dale Beaver had just made their way to the winner's circle Feb. 18 to congratulate Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip when they were asked to immediately go to the infield care center where Dale Earnhardt was in serious condition.

What Will Be My Cross Today?

Perhaps that person with whom Providence has placed me, and whom I dislike, whose look of disdain humiliates me, whose slowness worries me, who makes me jealous by being more beloved, more successful, than myself, whose chatter and light-heartedness, even her very attentions to myself, annoy me.

Or it may be that person that I think has quarrelled with me, and my imagination makes me fancy myself watched, criticised, turned into ridicule.

She is always with me; all my efforts to separate are frustrated; by some mysterious power she is always present, always near.

By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880
