Hello from Barbara's Entourage!

This has been such a gorgeous day!! There was no rain in the sky, the sun shined brightly, and the temperature warmed into the eighties! Wonderful day for soccer games, baseball games, or just playing in the sun!

Days like today make me want to get out and garden, but the time says 'wait'. There is probably another freeze or frost coming our way. So, I suppose flower planting will have to wait until after Easter. But, that's not far away.

Tomorrow brings PALM SUNDAY, and then, in one week, we have Easter or Resurrection Sunday. Hopefully, this will be a gorgeous day on which to reflect the burial and resurrection of our Savior, Christ Jesus.

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

And the night shall be filled with music,
And the cares that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away.

Need a good, sweet treat for Easter??

Combine 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup confectioners sugar. Mix well and pat down into a greased 8 x 8 pan or glass baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

While baking, get ready to put on top: 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs beaten well, 2 T. flour, 2 T. lemon juice (optional for best flavor: use fresh lemons), 1/4 t. vanilla.

Pour this over the first layer and bake 25-30 minutes more. When cool, add a glaze of powdered sugar, a little hot water and a pinch of salt. Add chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) over top of the glaze before the glaze sets. Cut into small bars or squares when glaze is firm--and ENJOY!

NOTE: Double the recipe, using a 9 x 13 pan, for a larger crowd.

Joy, Humor, and Faith on the net!

They were looking for a lion,
He came as a Lamb, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a warrior,
He came as a Peacemaker, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a king,
He came as a Servant, and they missed Him.

They were looking for liberation from Rome,
He submitted to the Roman stake, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a fit to their mold,
He was the mold maker, and they missed Him.

What are you looking for? Lion? Warrior? King? Liberator?
What are you looking for?

They were looking for their temporal needs to be met,
He came to meet their eternal need, and they missed Him.

He came as a Lamb to be sacrificed for your sin.
Will you miss Him?

He came to make peace between God and man.
Will you miss Him?

He came to model servant hood for all mankind.
Will you miss Him?

He came that we might have true liberty.
Will you miss Him?

He came to give you eternal life.
Will you miss Him?

When we submit to the Lamb, we will meet the Lion.
Join with the Peacemaker, and we will meet the Warrior.
Work with the Servant, and we will meet the King.
Walk with the Submitted, and we will meet the Liberator.
Concern ourselves with the eternal, and we will have the temporal.

If Jesus is not fitting into the mold you have,
then come to the mold maker and get a new one.
Submit to His plan for your life and you will see the eternal need met first;
then all the other things you have need of will be taken care of as well.

There was a gracious lady mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. "Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments," answered the lady.

A word or two from....

Christian Group Fights Alabama Constitution Reform

(CHARISMA) -- A proposal to rewrite Alabama's constitution has stirred opposition from a Christian political group that claims the overhaul threatens religion, freedom to bear arms and rights to jury trials. The Association for Judeo-Christian Values (AJCV) and Kayla Moore, wife of state Chief Justice and the 'Ten Commandments Judge' Roy Moore, held an anti-constitutional reform rally yesterday in Montgomery, "The Mobile Register" reported.

I. Meek Towards God - (Continued)

Ah! no doubt the same and grief are sharp and keen, but why need they disturb my peace of mind?

Has not God promised His pardon for His blessed SON's sake, to all who truly repent and unfeignedly believe His Holy Gospel? Have I made a full avowal and entire submission? and am I not willing to fulfil whatever I am advised in God's Name to do for the future?

Does the future in its turn seem to frighten me? I smile at the foolish fancies of my imagination; is not my future in God's hands?

What, when all that will befall me tomorrow, next year, ten years, twenty years hence, is ordained by Him, shall I distress myself with the thought that it may not be good for me!

Lord! be Thou my Guide, and choose my lot as may seem best to Thee!

By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880
