Hello from Barbara's Entourage!
|
It's Easter weekend, once again. Everyone is bustling around, trying to find the right outfit to wear to church. And, the kids are excited, thinking about the Easter bunny and hiding Easter eggs, which has become the custom here in America.
But, let's take note that bunnies, eggs, or outfits is not what this celebration is all about. It's about the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Without his resurrection and ascension to heaven, we'd be a lost people. But, He came to fulfill God's Master Plan for our lives - to make sure we had that chance at living eternally with Him. So, He gave His life at Calvary, to cover all our sins.
So, while we celebrate with our families this weekend, let's remember the 'reason for the celebration - the Resurrection of our LORD!

Lunch on the Bank
A pastor and two of his deacons are out on the river fishing in their
rowboat. Twelve o'clock rolls around, and one of the deacons notices a nice
spot on the bank to have lunch. He turns to the others and says, "That
looks like a nice spot for lunch.
What do you say we have lunch over there?"
The other deacon agrees, and so does the pastor. The deacon stands up in
the boat, steps out onto the river and walks over to the bank. The pastor
looks on with amazement, and thinks to himself, if his deacon is holy enough
to walk on water, surely he can.
The other deacon stands up, picks up the picnic basket, steps out of the
boat, and walks over to the bank and sits with the first deacon. Again, to
his amazement, the pastor thinks again, if his second deacon is holy enough
to walk on water, surely he can.
The pastor stands up, steps out of the boat, and sinks into the water. The
first deacon turns to the second and says, "Think we should have told him
where the rocks are?"

New words for an old song From The Sound of Music's A FEW OF MY FAVORITE
THINGS:
Maalox and nosedrops and needles for knitting',
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittin's,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs, cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident, Fixodent, my false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad,
Then I remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food nor no food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin'.
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames
Then we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache, when the hips break, When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad.
THEN I REMEMBER THE GREAT LIFE I'VE HAD AND THEN I DON'T FEEL SOOOO BAAAAD

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE
How few there are who would thus dare to address God each night: "Lord, deal with me tomorrow as I have this day dealt with others;...those to whom I was harsh, and from malice, or to show my own superiority, exposed their failings; others, to whom, from pride or dislike, I refused to speak,------one I have avoided, another I cannot like because she displeases me; I will not forgive,---to whom I will not show any kindness."...
And yet let us never forget that, sooner or later, God will do unto us even as we have done unto them.
